The school follows the National Curriculum for England and Wales in the English speaking subjects. In Year 10 and Year 11 pupils follow programmes of study prepared for the IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) syllabuses. Pupils also follow the essential requirements of the Spanish curriculum by learning Spanish at the most advanced level they can and studying Spanish History and Geography once they have reached Intermediate Level in Spanish.
The school is an approved examining centre for CIE (Cambridge International Examinations) and Edexcel for IGCSE and A Levels.
During Year 10 and Year 11 all pupils study towards 10 IGCSEs from: English, English Literature, Spanish, French or Chinese or Drama, Maths, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or Double Award Science, IT, PE or Music or Art. In addition, pupils can choose to study IGCSE Geography or IGCSE History or they can opt to study Geography/History in Spanish.
At the end of Year 11 pupils may take their IGCSEs and successful students receive a Statement of Studies, converted into the Graduate in Secondary Education Certificate (El Certificado de Graduado en Educación Secundaria). To qualify for this certificate, in Year 11 a student must: 1) have passed Spanish and Historia/Geografía; 2) have achieved an average of a pass in all other subjects; and 3) provide evidence of having successfully completed all Secondary years of schooling.
