Organization Vicente Ferrer
Fundación Vicente Ferrer
From its very beginnings ELIS has shown a spirit of solidarity, but it was following the Asian Tsunami in 2005 that two Secondary 3 pupils, Mario and Carmela, began a project at school on a scale never seen before. The School Management pledged to donate half the amount again of funds raised by the students. Thus “Fun for raising” was born.
It was a marvellous experience. Everyone collaborated in a great wave of solidarity and positive energy.
We were privileged and honoured to be able to donate 6,892.04€. to the Red Cross in less than a month.
The following year, the Vicente Ferrer Foundation was our chosen charity and received a donation of 2,526.66€. for a housing project in Anantapur (India). In 2007, we donated 1,592.86€ to UNICEF's ProAndes children's project.
Such a show of enthusiasm prompted us to decide on a long term initiative. We chose the Fundación Vicente Ferrer (FVF) housing projects and in 2008 we donated 2,622€ enabling that particular project to be completed. In 2009, the Student Council opted to collaborate with the construction of farms for milk production and made a first donation of 3,108.60€.
Any initiative promoted by a member of our School Community is welcome to help with these causes. The building of the farm is now almost complete. Namaste. doloresabellan@ellimonar.es

Money collecter for the FVF, during 2009-2010
2.173€ is the amount Secondary pupils raised for the Vicente Ferrer Foundation (VFF). This is a small but fitting tribute to Vicente Ferrer, the founder of FVF, who died last year and who has been nominated for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize. We are very fortunate at El Limonar to have pupils with such initiative and concern for others.
